This is an exciting starter position in which you can develop yourself in several areas of financial control starting as payroll controller. As a member of the Accounting and Controlling Team the Assistant (Payroll) Accountant will assist in making sure that all payroll related transactions are recorded correctly and timely in the financial and payroll system.

As Assistant Payroll Accountant you support the payroll at Crocs Europe with payrolling around 650 employees each month in total. External payroll providers are used to process payroll local and this is coordinated from Hoofddorp.

The purpose of this position is processing of the payroll each month and the financial controllers in reconciling the payroll into our financial systems. Secondary objective is supporting the payroll and accounting department in any ad-hoc payroll or financial related tasks, such as reports and analytics.

Tasks & Roles

Closing the books
Reconciling various payroll related G/L accounts, uploading the entries and monitoring the payroll declarations to various tax authorities

Monthly payroll cycle
Supporting the monthly payroll cycle of the payroll entities. From collecting and processing payroll related changes, checking payroll output to paying employees and local tax authorities.

Payroll controls
Ensure all payroll controls are performed and checklists are followed in the process flow of payrolls so compliance to internal policies is adhered.

Supporting the auditors on payroll related topics in the Group and Local Financial statements

The Assistant (Payroll) Controller needs to make sure that key controls are respected and the SOX requirements are met.

Interdepartmental contacts
Maintain contact with other departments (HR, Treasury, Tax and Retail Operations) on payroll related items

Process improvements
Identify process improvements to existing processes and advise the manager on opportunities to gain higher efficiency, effectiveness and ensure a higher level of (local) compliance.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance / Business Administration
  • Max 1-3 years’ experience
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Dutch
  • Experienced in use of Microsoft Excel
  • Particularly accurate, integer, strong numerical skills and structured
  • Establishes priorities, plans and organizes well, solution-oriented
  • Able to work result oriented with stringent deadlines and highlight any events that may lead to not meeting deadlines
  • Proactive and ambition to broaden knowledge in finance
