The Payroll Team at Crocs Europe is responsible for 14 entities in 11 countries (AT, NL, BE, DE, PT, ES, FR, UK, FI, SE and IT) with payrolling round 650 employees each month in total. External payroll providers are used to process payroll local and this is coordinated from Hoofddorp, where the Payroll Team reports into Finance.
Primary objective for this role is processing payroll each month for the NL entities and one or more entities other countries in Europe in cooperation with external payroll providers. You will manage the payroll department (1 Payroll Coordinator) and set priorities. You identify and execute process improvements as much as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Monthly payroll cycle
Responsible for the monthly payroll cycle of the NL payroll entities and one or more entities in other countries in Europe. From collecting and processing payroll related changes, checking payroll output, paying employees and local tax authorities to ensuring payroll journals are prepared and reconciled. This role is end to end responsible for the process flow a couple of entities.

Payroll controls
Ensure all payroll controls are performed and checklists are followed in the process flow of payrolls so compliance to internal policies is adhered.

Time and attendance
For the Retail entities the time and attendance is kept in KRONOS, whereby the role is to check timecards each week and have direct contact with the stores in country to ensure accuracy and completeness of time and attendance records.

Process improvements
Identify process improvements to existing processes and advise the manager on opportunities to gain higher efficiency, effectiveness and ensure a higher level of (local) compliance.

Interdepartmental contacts
Maintain contact with other departments (HR, Finance, Treasury, Tax and Retail Operations) on payroll related items.


  • 3-5 years’ experience working in payroll (NL payroll is a must and other payrolls is a nice to have)
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in Dutch and English.
  • Experienced in use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Particularly accurate, integer, strong numerical skills and structured.
  • Establishes priorities, plans and organizes well, solution-oriented.

  • Able to work result oriented with stringent deadlines and highlight any events that may lead to not meeting deadlines.
  • Proactive and ambition to broaden knowledge in the exiting field international payroll.
